Starting October 1, 2024, Zanzibar implemented a mandatory travel insurance policy for all foreign visitors to Zanzibar which must be purchased in advance of arrival and exclusively through Zanzibar Insurance Corporation (ZIC)’s online portal found here – Visit Zanzibar.
- Cost: $44 per adult and $22 for children aged 3-17; infants aged 0-2 are exempt in US dollars.
- Coverage Duration: Valid for up to 90 days from the date of entry.
After your purchase, a QR code will be provided, which must be presented upon arrival in Zanzibar.
Please do not rely on Zanzibar travel insurance to provide adequate coverage for your trip to Tanzania. Consider this mandatory travel insurance a “Zanzibar entry fee” and we strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance from your home country for the full amount and duration of your trip when you book your international airfare and pay the deposit on the safari.
Safari tours are a significant travel expense and Avid Safari’s deposit and cancellation policies include non-refundable clauses so please ensure that your investment is protected. Further, although Avid Safari includes AMREF Flying Doctor Emergency Evacuation with your safari, it only covers emergency medical evacuation to the nearest full facility hospital and does not include examination or treatment once reaching the hospital.
